An award-winning Ale House

The Old Ale House in Truro is simply the best place for a fresh pint of ale right in the heart of our home city. From fresh brews of local beers to small batch seasonal releases.

But we are so much more than just a pub; we are the home of live music in Truro. Kicking off the week with Jam Night every Monday, we also host acoustic sessions, open mic nights and Truro Folk Sessions (first Tuesday of every month).

One of the finest stocked bars in the South West

The Old Ale House has a cult following with all beer lovers. We love our real ale and cider, but if that’s not to your liking we have a wide range of gins, whiskeys, rums and vodka from all over the globe. We also have a selection of hot beverages and soft drinks.

Discounts for NHS staff and Blue Lights Workers available with valid photo ID.

PUB OF THE YEAR

The Old Ale House is CAMRA Kernow Pub of the Year 2017, and a finalist in the CAMRA National Pub of the Year Awards. We’re still celebrating, so come and join us.

WHAT OTHERS SAY ABOUT OUR PUB

“Lovely pub with marvellous selection of beers, well presented and very well kept. Food was lovely and very reasonable. A must-visit for Truro”

“Wonderful atmosphere. Nice mix of locals and tourists. Bar staff was super helpful on local beer and cider selection. Just a great place to drink and catch up with old friends.”

“I know everyone says they have the best beer but this place really does. The downstairs is a characterful old pub all wood like a pub should be!”

“If you like chrome, cocktails and pretentious tosh then this isn’t for you!”

LIVE MUSIC

We love live music. You’ll find great local talent and touring acts at the Old Ale House. Find out about all our events and what’s coming up in the next few weeks over on our Facebook page.

Always good to pop in. Very sad this time, as Skinner's in administration. But a few casks still on offer (along with some great bers on tap from elsewhere), I assume until stock depleted, including Skinner's 'Penny Come Quick' (stout), which is my favourite but had never been on when I've been in previously. Hopefully the pub will survive and thrive in future.

Fab range of ciders, usually have something new to try. A great pub whether you've just finished shopping and fancy a lunch time pint with a pasty (bring your own) or when there's a band playing in the evening. Would recommend this pub to anyone !

Loads of real ales and ciders. No chef but we were allowed to bring our own food in .

Brewery tap of Skinner's ales. Brewed on the riverside less than 200 yards from the pub. Good local brews. Very good IPAs and bitters. Also guest beers usually local or lesser known quality continental lagers. Wooden beams and floors traditional pub for the real ale aficionados. Monkey nuts and convivial atmosphere.
